Anne Milton Guildford’s MP Heralds Good News for Eashing
A recommendation to remove Eashing Farm as a preferred area from the Surrey Minerals Plan has been a reason to celebrate for those living nearby. On 24 September, the Environment and Economy Select Committee of Surrey County Council agreed to endorse this and it was agreed by the Executive Committee yesterday.
The County Council was concerned about the need to safeguard the AGLV (Area of Great Landscape Value) ahead of the review of AONBs (Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty). This ends a period of uncertainty for local residents since the first suggestion of a minerals extraction site at Eashing Farm was mooted.
Anne said:
“I am thrilled to see Eashing taken out of the Minerals Plan. It has been a long and concerted campaign to show just what a terrible impact minerals extraction would have of an area of such landscape value and natural beauty. This is the right decision for our countryside and the right decision for the lives of local people. My congratulations to everyone who has used their expertise, joined the campaign and written letters urging the Council to withdraw Eashing from the Minerals Plan”
